Lantern sink
~ Hachiro River Memorial Light ~
The Nagasaki flood that struck mainly in Nagasaki City on July 23, 1982.
39 years have passed and the memories of those days have faded over time, and as the number of generations who do not know "that time" is increasing, we adults living in the area will pass on the lessons to posterity. I have a responsibility to go out.
The Hachiro River memorial light is an original light of gratitude to those who have contributed to the reconstruction of the town, to calm the sacrificed spirit, and to illuminate the light of hope for the future with children and local people. I would like to hold it every July, hoping that it will help to let the lanterns flow into the Hachiro River and pass on the lessons of the past forever.
